The Iraq Government have approved plans for a reconstruction project of Mosul's Old City and its old market in full. The project has a budget of $19million (20 billion Iraqi dinars).
The project also includes interest free loans for construction which will be available to the owners of houses which have been destroyed.
Mosul's Old City experienced major damage due to the fighting between IS militants and Iraqi forces, with the terrorist group taking control of the City before its liberation in 2017.
The United Nations have estimated that the cost to repair basic infrastructure in the City will exceed $1 billion. In some of the worst affected areas, near enough every building has been damaged and UN officials have also admitted that the reconstruction required may have been underestimated.
