Common Seawater Supply Project (CSSP)

Scope

The Basrah Oil Company (BOC) will award the contract to build the Common Seawater Supply Project (CSSP) through a tender process, following the end of talks on the project with Exxon Mobil. The US oil major had initially been in discussions to build a large water treatment facility in order to develop their oil production capacity.

The BOC have so far shortlisted 3 unknown companies for the project which will be awarded as an EPC contract, from 7 initial applications that were received. The tender process is expected to be completed in July.

The water treatment facility will have the capacity to treat 5 million barrels of seawater per day, with potential scope to increase this capacity by a further 50% to 7.5 million barrels.
