Najaf to Karbala Railway Project

Chinese construction and engineering company Norinco are expected to secure the project for the construction of a new elevated railway connecting the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala, following the approval of their designs by the General Company for Iraqi Railways (GCIR). The project remains subject to final approval from the Iraqi government with funding to be delivered through a Chinese government loan.
