China's CPECC Secure Gas Processing Contract at Halfaya

Contract will involve the extraction and processing of 300 mcf/f of natural gas

China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation (CPECC) have secured a deal for the construction and operation of facilities for the production of natural gas at the Halfaya oil field, in Iraq's Maysan province.

The Halfaya gas project will involve the extraction and processing of an expected 300 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day (mcf/d), in tandem with existing crude oil production of approximately 400,000 bpd at the field.

Oil production at the Maysan field is delivered by a consortium headed by Petrochina (37.5%), alongside Petronas (18.75%), Total (18.75%) and Iraq's state South Oil Company (25%).

The increase in gads production will help deliver crucial power to meet the nations domestic demands, with Iraq currently heavily reliant on gas imports from neighboring Iran
