Iraq Discusses Transnational Railway Construction with Iran and Syria

The three countries to hold an upcoming summit for further discussions on advancing the project

Iraq has begun discussions with Iran and Syria over the construction of a transnational railway project to provide transport links between the three countries. 

Salib al-Hussaini, head of the Iraqi Republic Railways Company revealed that the three countries will hold a summit for further discussions on the project.

The announcement follows recent discussions between Iraq and Iran for a railway connection between the Iraqi Southern city of Basra and the Iranian border region of Shalamcheh.
