As part of a strategy to improve cooperation and business links with the Kingdom, Iraq is to begin the building of a new compound at its border with Saudi Arabia.
The compound, which will include a health center and University, will be located near the Arar border crossing and will be funded and delivered by Saudi construction company MASCO. The project will also be reviewed by a team of Iraqi's formed to assess its delivery.
In addition to the new building, Iraq and Saudi officials are working on an arrangement to reopen trade at the border crossing at Arar, which has been closed for almost 30 years.
