Iraq's Halfaya Oilfield Raises Production Output to 370,000 bpd

Further production increases expected in early 2019 following completion of new crude oil processing facility

Iraq's Halfaya oilfield, the largest in Maysan province, has achieved oil production increases of 100,000 bpd with current production now standing at 370,000 bpd.

The field, operated by Chinese oil giant PetroChina, has achieved production increases following the addition of a new oil processing facility which has capacity to 200,000 bpd of crude oil.

With the new processing facility only operating at half its capacity, the Maysan Oil Company aims to be producing a further 100,000 bpd to reach a total of 470,000 bpd of production from Halfaya.

Maysan Oil Company, which oversees operations at the provinces fields, has also launched a gas project in order to capture 300 million standard cubic feet of natural gas alongside oil production, with China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation (CPECC) believed to be in pole position following initial tender submissions.
