Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum have revealed significant increases in gas production at the Khor Mor field in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The partners who jointly operate the field on behalf of Pearl Petroleum have announced that they have achieved production increases of almost a third, which serves as crucial fuel for the regions power plants in order to generate electricity.
Output at the field has increased to 400 MMscfd of natural gas, from a previous output of 305 MMscfd with further investment scheduled aiming to deliver a further increase to 900 MMscfd in three years time.
The Kurdistan Gas Project was initiated back in 2007 with investment to date in excess of $1.4 billion. More than 600 full time staff are employed on the project, with over 80% of the workforce made up of local workers.
