Production Restarts At Baiji Refinery In Iraq

Rehabilitation of the refinery follows recent maintenance work

Jabar al-Luaibi, the Iraqi Minister of Oil, has revealed that the Salahaddin-2 unit of the Baiji oil refinery has been fully rehabilitated.

The refinery has been undergoing repairs following its deactivation in 2014, following damage caused by Islamic State.

This marks a boost as Iraq plans to become self sufficient in oil products, with the refinery having a capacity of 70,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd).
