Abadi: Iraq Seeks Partnership With Siemens To Improve Electricity

Agreement sought with German power giant to overhaul country's infrastructure

Speaking at a weekly press conference in Baghdad, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi revealed that he wants to reach an agreement with Siemens to reform the electricity sector of the country.

Abadi called for a 'roadmap and full program of reform' but also claimed that his cabinet had been making improvements in electricity production.

On a separate note, the acting Prime Minister also called for political parties to speed up their work to form a new government, following a call from the President for parliament to convene on September 3.

His office also released a statement advising that the Investment Commission have granted a license for the construction of a new oil refinery in Kirkuk.
