Production Resumes At Bai Hassan Oil Field

Kirkuk field back in production for first time this year

According to satellite surveillance, oil production as resumed at the Bai Hassan oil field in Kirkuk. The field is one of a number that were shut down in October 2017 following the KRG independence vote from Iraq.

This will allow Iraq to increase oil production and assist in creating a hike in oil production as agreed by OPEC in June, which will help offset any loss of production from Iran as a result of US sanctions.

Under KRG management in 2016, production at the oilfield averaged 115,000 barrels per day, but had previously produced up to 200,000 barrels per day in 2013.
