The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Erbil Governorate have announced the launch of eight new infrastructure projects. These projects are aimed at vital services including electricity supply, roads, water and sewage in order to directly support and improve services for the residents of Erbil.
Two projects have been supported by the Government of Japan, UNDP’s Iraq Crisis Response and Resilience Programme (ICRRP) and the Erbil Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (E-JCC) where firstyly, 40 transformers have already been installed in the area to improve electricity supply to residents and secondly an additional mobile substation will be installed for Ifraz water Treatment Plant which will help increase water supply.
A further six projects will be supported by the Government of Germany, ICRRP and E-JCC which include the construction of new roads, lighting improvements, electricity upgrades and developments of the water network.
