Mr. Kareem Hattab the deputy minister for up-streaming declared for the plans of the ministry of oil to increase the export capacities of the Amya oil port in the south of Iraq to more than 1 million barrels/ day.
Mr. Hattab said during his inspection tour to the oil fields, facilities and exportation ports in the south of Iraq that the Basrah oil company (BOC) is currently rehabilitating the Amya port to elevate its exportation capacity to higher levels.
The inspection tour included the inspector general of the ministry, the DG of BOC, the DG of the Iraq drilling company (IDC), in addition to the DG’s of the technical directorate and the studies planning & follow-up directorate and the spokesman of the ministry.
He said also that the current exportation capacity is (250.000) barrels/ day and the plans are to raise and expand it after finishing the development projects of new pipelines extension and construction of pumping stations & reservoirs with a capacity of more than (600.000) barrels during the next period in order to elevate the exportation to more than 1 million barrels during the next few years, which is a part of the plans of the ministry to raise the capacities of exportation and reserving for the exportation ports in the south of Iraq.
Mr. Hattab said that the new residential complex in Al- Amya port were inspected. And it is trustworthy to say that this port is being executed by (BOC) according to the directions of Mr. Jabbar Ali Al-Luiebi the minister of oil to provide an appropriate residence for the workers in the exportation terminals to appreciate their special efforts of loading the international oil tanker ships with oi all over the year despite the bad climate in the sea.
Mr. Assim Jihad the spokesman of the ministry said that the tour included also a visit to the Basrah oil port to observe, follow-up and rehabilitate some of the important facilities in the loading port, and meet with the workers to praise their efforts and meet their needs. He said also that the ministerial delegation inspected also the oil exportation main control center by the SPM’s , and he listened to the detailed explanation by the representative of the international company which inspects the mechanism of audit, checking, electronic monitoring and following-up the exportation process via the exportation ports.
