Turkish Aliso Dam threatens two Iraqi rivers

Member of the Commission Abdul Hadi al-Khairallah called the Iraqi government and ministry of trade to "internationally" move to stop building the dam.

‚ÄčBaghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Iraqi Parliamentary Agriculture, Water and Marshes attributed the decline in water levels of the two main Iraqi rivers, The Tigris and The Euphrates,  rain shortages and Turkish Aliso Dam.
 
 
Member of the Commission Abdul Hadi al-Khairallah called the Iraqi government and ministry of trade to "internationally" move to stop building the dam.
 
"For years, the Turkish government is building the dam to generate power and minimized water flow to Iraq to fill the dam", he pointed out.
 
He disclosed that a committee was formed during the past years to press the Turkish side to increase water flow to Iraq, but no results were reached.
