The South Oil Company (SOC) started the development operations and extension of Khor Al-Omaia oil field in the south of Iraq by the cooperation with the ministry of transportation.
The rehabilitation & development process will include the digging and deepen of the passages & anchor places of the oil tankers.
Mr. Abdulzahra Abdullah The division responsible of Al-Omaia said that, according to the directions of the minister of oil Mr. Jabbar A. Allibi. SOC started the rehabilitation and development operations of the port by cooperation with the ministry of transportation to dig and deepen it in order to receive the tanker ships which are carrying more than one ton.
He said also that the rehabilitation includes the establishment of two terminals instead of the damaged. The company is also working on the activation of the Japanese loan to finish the main transportation pipeline (48 Knots) and improve the pumping operation for the port.
It is trustworthy to say that the ministry of oil is exporting the oil through the Basra & Al-Omaia ports in addition to the floating terminals.
