Mr. Jabbar A. Allibi the minister of oil met with Mr. Ibrahim Saif the Jordanian minister of energy & mineral resources.
The Iraqi & Jordanian parties agreed on the necessity of strengthening the mutual relations between the two countries which has a common concern such as the oil & energy.
Mr. Allibi said that there are big historic relations between Iraq & Jordan "the brother country" and stressed on the necessity of the oil & natural gas pipeline project through Aqaba port for its strategic and economic significance. He said also that the common committees are keen to speed up finishing this case with the consortium of the investor companies of the project, and the negotiations about this project have reached to the advanced stages. He said also that Iraq & Jordan agreed on the necessity of putting a time table to finish this case.
Mr. Allibi said that he directed to form a follow-up committee in the offices of the ministers to follow the project updates and send organized reports about this case. Also there was a confirmation on the cooperation to supply Jordan with the crude oil after stabilizing the security situation in the border provinces. It is worthy to mention that the two parties agreed to cooperate in the training & experience exchange sector.
Mr. Allibi said that the two parties agreed to cooperate in the renewable energy sector to make use of the Jordanian experience and there are common committees made to make use of this experience in order to apply it in some of the service sectors in Iraq.
Mr. Saif said that he was glad to visit Iraq and the Jordanian companies would like to strengthen and develop the relations with Iraq in all the sectors "especially the oil industry sector". He stressed also on the necessity of the oil & gas pipeline project strategically and economically for the people of the two countries.
Mr. Saif said also that the meetings and agreements which was made with the brothers from the Iraqi ministry of oil was productive and successful, and they are going to develop the relations and open new horizons of cooperation between the two "brother countries".
Mr. Assim Jihad the spokesman of the ministry said that the minister of oil discussed with the Jordanian minister about some of the oil projects such as the Iraqi- Jordanian pipeline extension.
Mr. Jihad said also that the Jordanian minister met "during his two days visit" with the governmental responsible members whom are concerned with energy and said that this visit was made to strengthen the mutual relations between the two countries. The Jordanian minister also visited the ministry of oil pavilion in Baghdad international fair and praised the role of the Iraqi oil companies to develop and rehabilitate the Iraqi oil sector and the agreement which was done recently. And said that The Jordanian minister was optimistic about the promising future of the oil industry in Iraq.
It is worthy to mention that the ministry of oil received a delegation from the Jordanian ministry of energy & mineral resources to discuss some of the issues related with the oil projects and the future plans of cooperation between Iraq & Jordan to achieve the benefit for the two countries.
