John Wood, from John Wood Group PLC, has announced the company has won two contracts in Iraq worth $140US million. Wood Group will provide technical services to a leading oil company in Iraq in addition to engineering design, EPC services, commissioning support for operations as well as onshore asset in southern Iraq.
The project will create 100 new jobs and will be delivered out of the company's Dubai office (set up in 2015) and PSN's office in southern Iraq.
Eastern region managing director for PSN, David Buchanan stated, "these two significant contract wins demonstrate Wood Group's commitment to working closely with key clients to extend our operations in Iraq, where we see a growth market that complements our broad service capabilities, international knowledge and strong expertise.Establishing an office in Dubai and a base in Iraq reflects our intention to build lasting customer relationships and focus on the development of our Iraqi workforce and supply chain partnerships."
Wood group has won a series of contracts in Brazil, Australia, Azerbaijan, Norway, the US and the UK. In Brazil, the Wood group subsidiary won a two year contract in January to provide services to Polvo A platform after forming a partnership with PetroRio
Later that month, John Wood also signed a three-year contract with Royal Dutch Shell PLC to provide services to Prelude floating liquefied natural gas in Western Australia. The next month, John Wood extended their contract with Chevron to provide services in the UK and Woodside to provide design services for their Greater Western Flank Phase 2 in Australia.
