The first of four planned refinery projects in Iraq has taken shape. Mr. Assim Jihad, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Oil has said Maysan Refinery will have a capacity of 150,000 barrels per day and will be built by Wahan (China) & Starim (Switzerland) companies. The refinery will aim to provide oil derivatives of the highest standards as well as facilitate jobs for people in the province.
Mr. Jihad said also that the refinery is going to provide the oil derivatives with high standards such as the developed countries. It will also offer the jobs for the citizens of the province. He said also that this project will be done according to the plans of the ministry to develop the refining sector.
The following refineries are also planned:
The Nasiriya refinery 300,000 bpd
Kirkuk refinery 150,000 bpd
Karbala refinery140,000 bpd
