Drilling a new oil well in the Al Gharraf field completed: Oil Ministry

Ministry of Oil announced Thursday the completion of drilling a new oil well in the Al-Gharraf field.

Ministry of Oil announced Thursday the completion of drilling a new oil well in the Al-Gharraf field.

The ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the technical and engineering staff in the Iraqi Drilling Company have completed the drilling and completion of the directional oil well Gharaf/132, with a depth of 2713 meters with a deviation angle of 29 degrees," indicating that "the well is the fifteenth that the company is completing it, within the contract concluded with the Malaysian company Petronas, to drill 28 directional oil wells in Al-Gharraf oil field in Dhi Qar Governorate, in a turnkey manner.

It added that "the drilling operations were carried out using the IDC 54 drilling rig, which has a horsepower of 2000 horses," noting that "this device is one of the modern devices owned by the company and can reach depths exceeding 6000 meters."

 It also explained that "the process of drilling and completion took place within a time period of 54 days," noting that "the dismantling and transfer of the device to the next site WPC began to drill a new oil well in the same field."
