The opening of the K-123 oil and gas well in the Garraf Contract Area marked another key milestone in Petronas's Iraqi Joint Venture.

Petronas Carigali Iraq Holding BV opening the K-123 oil and gas well within the Garraf Contract Area in the Thi Qar province marked another key event in its Iraqi Joint Venture, according to its parent company Petroliam Nasional Berhad, Malaysia's national oil company.

They believe this achievement is a testament to Petronas, Japan Petroleum Exploration Company Ltd (JAPEX), and North Oil Company's unwavering devotion and synergy in realizing Iraq's energy ambitions.

In a Facebook post, Petronas also attributed the success to the host authority, Thi Qar Oil Company's continuing support and dedication.

The Garraf Contract Area is located onshore within Thi Qar, roughly 275 kilometers northwest of Basra, 250 kilometers southeast of Baghdad, and 85 kilometers from Nasiriyah city, according to Petronas' website.
