Oil production in Iraq continues undeterred by the current scare being brought by the spread of COVID19 worldwide. This was the statement released by Assem Jihad, spokesperson for Iraq Oil Ministry.
According to him, there are thousands of Chinese workers that are employed in Iraq's oil fields but the oil ministry has taken precautions such as postponing the return of those on vacation to the country.
As of this writing, the first case of COVID19 infection has been reported in the region with six more confirmed affected but none of the oil workers were infected.
China's state run CNOOC runs an oil plant in the Maysan oilfield southeast of Iraq.
