Due to gas emissions and pollution, Nahr Bin Omar oil field in Iraq is set to cut production.
Due to environmental concerns, Nahr Bin Omar oil field in Iraq will cut down on its production. The field has been considered as one of the most controversial fields primarily due to its pollution and gas emissions.
Nahr bin Omar has reserves of about 6.5 billion barrels of oil and 12 billion cu. ft. of natural gas. Its daily production of oil averages 40,000 bpd with the gas production at 25 million cu. ft. daily.
This will come as a blessing in disguise for Iraq as this reduction in output will allow them to meet their production quota under the OPEC+ agreement. Iraq along with Nigeria has continuously lagged behind in compliance.
