Recent reporting has confirmed Phase 1 of the major overhaul of Iraq’s International Airport construction project in Northern Kirkuk city will be complete before the end of 2019. Phase one of the project includes the construction of car parks, gates, towers, power utility facilities and roads and is on schedule, according to Ziad Saleh, head of Kirkuk Airport Managing Committee, adding "nearly 90 percent of phase 1 has been finished and we expect it to be fully completed before the end of this year.”
2020 hopes to see further progress in the project with plans to expand construction terminals, airport halls, expansion of the current building in addition to a second runway to accommodate further air traffic.
