Work has begun on a project for the connection of power grids between Iraq and neighboring Jordan.
The project will allow Jordan to export electricity to Iraq and provide a power alternative, with Iraq reliant on power imports to meet its energy demands and much of its imports for power generation coming from Iranian gas.
The connections will also be valuable to Jordan with the country currently in energy overcapacity. The Kingdom is also seeking to develop additional grid connectivity with Saudi Arabia and other gulf nations.
