Kirkuk's 2019 Budget Approved

Budget of $361 million approved for services in Iraqs northern province

Iraq's oil rich northern province of Kirkuk has passed its budget bill for 2019, following approval from 21 members of the Kirkuk Provincial Council (KPC), from a total of 41.

The budget for the province amounts to $361 million and will prioritize the completion of water projects, improvement of electricity services, construction and rehabilitation of schools, maintenance of roads and the construction of two silos in Dubiz and Hawija.

The province, which has been disputed by both the KRG and Iraqi Government, has been suffering from a lack of investment in projects in recent times with instability following its 2017 takeover from Iraqi forces following the KRG independence referendum.
