Marathon OIl Sells Stake in Kurdistan's Atrush Oil Block

Sale of its stake marks Marathon's complete exit from Iraq operations

American oil producer Marathon Oil has announced the completion of the sale of its 15% stake in the Atrush oil block in Iraq's northern Kurdistan region.

The oil block is currently operated by TAQA (39.9% stake) and producing 2,400 barrels per day. The remaining stakeholders for the project are Shamaran Petroleum (20.1%) with the Kurdistan Regional Government holding the remaining 25% stake.

The sale marks a complete exit from Iraq for Marathon Oil.
