Russian Trade With Iraq Soaring

Bilateral trade between the countries has grown by 52 percent to $1.4 billion a year over the past 24 months

Iraq Ambassador to Russia, Haidar Mansour Hadi, has revealed that bilateral trade between Iraq and Russia has surged by 52% from $900 million to $1.4 billion per year over the last 2 years.

Moscow and Baghdad will also continue to work together in order to increase trade and cooperation in many areas, with the Russian embassy looking to support Russian companies seeking to enter the Iraqi market.

Over many years the two countries have cooperated on many areas including law enforcement and education. However the energy industry offers the highest number of joint projects between the countries, with Russian energy giants Gazprom, Rosneft and Lukoil highly prominent in Iraq's oil and gas fields.
