Iraq has agreed a military and security cooperation agreement with the Kingdom of Jordan, with Iraqi Defense Minister Irfan Mahmoud Al Hayali in Amman to oversee the signing on August 5th.
The deal will seek to combat terrorism through an improvement in the exchange of intelligence and expertise. Joint military exercises, as well as investment in technology and research are also included in the agreement.
The deal will seek to boost overall security but also specifically on the border between the two countries following the recent reopening of the main border crossing connecting Iraq and Jordan, which is a vital conduit for trade.
