The two Japanese ODA projects provided by the loan agreements are for the Basrah Water Supply Improvement Project (II) (loan amount: 19.415 billion yen) and the Irrigation Sector Loan (Phase 2) (loan amount: 15.465 billion yen)
The first project aims to provide water supply facilities, including a water treatment plant and a water distribution network, in Basrah and Hartha, southern Iraq, in order to dramatically improve the water supply in both cities.
The second project consists of the construction of an irrigation and drainage facility and agricultural land mainly in the Tigris-Euphrates River Basin, in order to increase agricultural productivity, which is vital for the development of this sector and the role it will play in the planned diversification of the Iraqi economy.
