Iraq Ministry of Oil Announces May Require Foreign Companies to Build Housing for Iraqi Employees

Jabbar al-Luaibi stated, “issued a general notice which commits contracted companies to build modern housing compounds and provide essential services to employees.”


Foreign companies and IOC's will soon be required to build proper and acceptable housing for Iraqi employees working for international companies operating in Iraq. According to the Iraq Ministry of Oil, Jabbar al-Luaibi stated, “issued a general notice which commits contracted companies to build modern housing compounds and provide essential services to employees.” 

IOC's currently operating in the country such as US company, ExxonMobil, Russias Lukoil and Gazprom; ENI, Royal Dutch Shell, France's TOTAL, Britain's BP, PetroChina and Petronas would all see operational costs increase with this new general notice.  Source: Reuters and Ministry of Oil
