Ministry of Oil News: The Ministry of Oil Signs a Contract with GE to Invest Gas in Nasiriya and Al Gharraf

   Coincided with the Iraqi celebrations and the liberation of Mosul city… the ministry of oil adds a new accomplishment to support the national economy by signing a contract to invest the gas.

   Mr. Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi the minister of oil confirmed on the keenness of the ministry of oil to execute its strategic plans to ensure more income to the Iraqi federal budget and develop the oil industry… that was during the celebration which was held by the ministry of oil to sign the contract with General Electric company represented by Baker Hughes company to execute the investment project in order to invest the gas perfectly in the fields of Nasiriya and Al-Gharraf, and to produce the dry gas, the condensed gas and the liquid gas.

   Mr. Al-Luiebi said that the project represents a quantum leap in the gas investment, and it will be executed on two stages. The first stage is the execution of a station for gas drying & compression capable to produce (70 to 100 MSCF/day). While the second stage will include the accomplishment of the project and building a new factory for the gas fluids with a capacity of (200 MSCF/ day).

   Mr. Al Luiebi said that the project will contribute to stop burning the gas in Nasiriya & Gharraf fields and provide the liquid gas in order to use it as a fuel for the power stations and reduce the use of the heavy fuel which can improve the efficiency of power generation and save the environment. He said also that the project will produce hundreds thousands tons of the liquid gas each year as liquefied petroleum gas and condensed gas, and also export the surplus to the global market which will elevate the average of incomes to the budget.

   Mr. Al-Luiebi said also that the project will offer many different jobs for the citizens of Thi-Qar governorate during the two stages of execution and operation.
