Mr. Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi the minister of oil directed to establish specialized work teams to start the execution of the service projects in Basra governorate.
That was during the meeting which was held by the minister in Basra by the presence of the inspector general, the directors general and the managers of the divisions.
Mr. Al- Luiebi confirmed that the ministry is keen to execute many service projects in the governorate. The first project will be the execution of the tourism city in Muftiya city. And the execution of the project of rehabilitating the Ashar River. As well as the rehabilitation of Basra ancient clock. And the project of building model school and other projects.
Mr. Al-Luiebi saw the schemes of the Muftiya project and approved them. The schemes includes the construction of the coast location on Shatt Al-Arab over an area of more than 85 Acers. The water city over 38 Acers includes a waterpark, leisure resort for the families and an aquarium. In addition to a zoo over 52 Acers. And the construction of a sports city includes a closed football stadium, Olympic swimming pool, sports & entertainment facilities and restaurants over the area of 15 Acers.
Mr. Al-Luiebi said that the project will be executed on stages after the preparation of the infrastructure and the engineering schemes of the green lands & buildings by the oil staff. He said also that the first stage will include the removal of the debris from the zone. He said also that some facilities will be offered for the investment such as the water city and the zoo which will be executed according to the modern international standards to be suitable for the citizens of Basra whom suffered too much during the previous years, and because the governorate represents a significant economic, historic and cultural place for Iraq.
Mr. Al-Luiebi directed to enhance the administrative procedures and the regular approvals of the other service projects by coordinating with the concerned directorates in the governorate.
It is worthy to mention that the Muftiya city in Basra includes oil reservoirs, oil products shipping platforms, facilities of the ministry and headquarter of the south distribution division which was moved outside the city in order to start the project and transform it to an industrial, tourism and entertainment city.
