Mr. Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi the minister of oil sent a telegram to his Excellency Dr. Hayder Al- Abadi the Iraqi prime minister to inform him about the accomplishment of the new unit in Kirkuk refinery.
Mr. Al-Luiebi said that the technical & engineering staff in the north refineries company (NRC) and the supporting authorities from the other oil companies finished and operated successfully the new refining unit with a capacity of (10) thousand barrels / day in Kirkuk refinery.
Mr. Al-Luiebi said in his telegram to Dr. Al- Abadi that the accomplishment of this project by depending on the national efforts "in-spite of the security & economic challengers" is considered as a significant step to add a new refining capability to Kirkuk refinery to elevate the refining capacity to (40) thousand barrels / day which can contribute in covering a big part of the local needs in the governorate, by producing the oil products such as the kerosene, gas oil, naphtha and the black oil "which is used in the factories of asphalt, cement and bricks", as well as the other industrial projects of the governmental and private sector.
Mr. Al-Luiebi said also: "the ministry of oil is working to add a new refining unit to Kirkuk refinery with a capacity of (10) thousand barrels / day before the end of this year".
Mr. Al-Luiebi said that the technical & engineering staff of the south oil company (SOC) and the oil projects company (SCOP) and the supporting authorities accomplished successfully the supply & operation of the Najeebiya power station with gas fuel in Basra governorate. Which added new generating source to add (100) megawatts to the national unit capacity. He said also that the ministry of oil have accomplished earlier "in a record time" the supply of Shatt Al- Arab power station with the gas fuel and started the trial run operation of the station. And supplied the Haritha station, the Haritha investment station, the Khor and the Rumaila station, in addition to other stations with the gas fuel.
