Temporary Closure of Iraqi Port Costs US$100 Million Per Day

Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Iraqi oil sources reported that Qatar was "behind the wrangling on Khor  Abdulla Canal to prevent Iraqi-Kuwaiti gas cooperation".

Iraqi oil ministry disclosed that that it will supply Kuwait with 50 million cubic feet daily, which shall be increased to 200 million cubic feet.

Both Iraqi and Kuwaiti sides tried to pacify the situation by announcing that Khor Abdulla Canal agreement is to organize navigation, not "boundary demarcation".

The sources added that Qatar wanted to control the Kuwaiti gas market, so the plan to ignite Iraqi-Kuwaiti conflict.
