New Colosseum Built in Iraqi Sulaimaniya Province

The authorities reported that this project was completed to enhance cultural events in the city.

Sulaimaniya/ Iraq TradeLink: Sulaimaniya provincial administration decided to build a Colosseum similar to that of the Roman empire in Italy.

The cost of the project 4.6 million dollars, the sources added.

The start in building the project was initiated before two years, with expectations to be opened to the public in June, 2017.

The authorities believe that this new monument will help Sulaimaniya city to make carnivals and musical festivals similar to those in Jordan and Tunisia, as well as an element to attract tourists.

The new Colosseum area can accommodate 5000 spectators, which shall have, also, a theater, gardens, zoo, Golf yards, shopping centers and other types of sports, the sources added.

The project was financed by the Kurdish government, as well as donations made by the city's businessmen.

It was supposed that this project would have been completed during the last year, but the financial difference with Baghdad delays its financing.
