Khor al Amaya Oil Terminal Modernisation Will Increase Accessibility, South Oil Company

Reuters reported the terminal has a loading capacity of 600,000 bpd which will increase to 1.2 million bpd after modernisations occur

The Khor al-Amaya oil terminal in Basra, has recently been expanded by South Oil Company (SOC) according to Reuters. The work will consist of modernising shipping passages and anchor places for oil tankers. The work is being funded by a loan from Japan which will also help fund the main transport pipeline and pumping stations.

Reuters reported the terminal has a loading capacity of 600,000 bpd which will increase to 1.2 million bpd after modernisations occur. The project will also facilitate the ease with which Suezmax oil tankers, with a capacity to carry 1 million barrels of crude, will be able to load at the port.
