Jordan To Resume Its Oil Imports From Iraq

Jordan will be resuming its oil imports from Iraq after suspension of shipments due to the pandemic.

According to Hassan Hiari, Director of the Gas and Oil Department at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jordan will resume shipments of about 10,000 barrels of crude oil within the month. Jordan halted all its shipments during the month of August due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Iraq and Jordan had an initial agreement signed in February of last year in which Jordan will  be importing 10,000 barrels of crude daily. Both countries have agreed to extend their supply agreement through November and are set to discuss new deal to renew the contract for another year after that.

Through this deal Iraq helps supply about 7% of Jordan's energy needs.
